All online courses are designed, written and published by Sue Maton under the brand The Mercerie

1. Terms of Use.

1.1. All intellectual property rights, including copyright in all content and communication belongs to Sue Maton.

By subscribing to this course you are agreeing to all Terms and Conditions outlined in this document. You are agreeing that the content and property of The Mercerie online courses cannot be copied, reproduced, modified, stored, redistributed or exploited commercially in any way, this includes finished outcomes.

2. Course Requirements:

2.1. All course documentation is written and delivered in English and all customers must have a competent level of English and possess a reasonable competence in English language reading and writing.

2.2. All crochet terminology is given using UK Terminology and all students should have a basic understanding of this terminology

2.3. For all crochet courses (other than beginners) all students should have a basic working knowledge of crochet, or commit to independent practice to gain the necessary skills. Sue Maton will not provide individual, personalised crochet tutorials for anyone beginning a crochet course without appropriate existing crochet skills.

2.4. Students must be 18 at the time of booking.

2.5. All students take full responsibility in determining whether the course is suitable for them. Sue Maton takes no responsibility if a student is unable to complete and achieve.

2.6. Sue Maton does not accept any liability for any losses, costs or expenses incurred by or on behalf of a student in connection with insufficient language or practical skills.

2.7. All students take full responsibility in determining they have suitable internet access, appropriate devices for viewing course content and appropriate (up to date) internet browsers and providers in order to access full course content.

2.8. Sue Maton does not accept any liability for any losses, costs or expenses incurred by or on behalf of a student in connection with internet issues or problems with personal devices (lap-top, PC, tablet, smart phone etc)

2.9. Sue Maton will not provide individual, personalised advice about any issues arising from personal technical problems.

2.10. All students must provide their own equipment and materials for the course and are responsible for making purchase decisions based on guidance and recommendations by Sue Maton.

2.11. Sue Maton will provide equipment and materials guidance and recommendations for each course but is unable to provide individual advice about alternative materials.

2.12. Sue Maton does not accept any liability for any losses, costs or expenses incurred by or on behalf of a student in connection with their choices of materials and equipment.

3. How to Make a Booking:

Online courses can only be booked on The Mercerie’s website www.themercerie.co.uk.

The person making the booking must be at least 18 years old and by paying for the course accepts the terms and conditions. By paying for a booking you have read the terms and conditions. You are also responsible for the accuracy of your personal details.

At checkout you will create a password and enter your email address which will be required for logging into The Mercerie. Once The Mercerie has received payment for the course you will receive an email within 24 hours to allow you to access your personal account and Library.

If there is a start date for the course, it will only become available in your Library on that date.

4. Price of Courses:

4.1. All prices that are advertised on our website are correct at the time of booking.

5. Procedure for Changing or Cancelling a Booking:

5.1. Cooling off Period:

Under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulation 2000 you the consumer have the legal right to cancel the contract between you and The Mercerie during the period of 14 days from date when the contract starts. This is known as the “cooling off period”. If you decide to cancel the course within this cooling off period then you must inform us within the 14 days of payment. Once we receive your written cancellation, in form of an email we will refund your course fees within 30 days.

Once we receive your written cancellation, in form of an email we will refund your course fees within 30 days. All refunds will incur a 5% fee.

5.2. Students paying monthly have the option to cancel at any time. Once payments have been cancelled students will no longer have access to the course content. Payments for any previous months are non refundable.

5.3. Students should inform Sue Maton of their intent to cancel by writing to [email protected] in the form of an email. Once you have cancelled your booking your course access will be cancelled immediately.

6. Time Period for the Completion of Courses:

6.1. Members will have indefinite extended access to all course content after the ‘live’ element of the course. This means access for as long as The Mercerie continues to provide online courses. If at anytime in the future The Mercerie ceases to offer online course all members will be given 12 months notice before access is withdrawn.

6.2. Students may complete the course in their own time. There is no expectation that students complete in any given time frame.

6.3. All students take full responsibility in ensuring they have all the information necessary to complete the project.

7. System Maintenance and Upgrades:

7.1 At certain times our systems and software programs may be updated. In the event of an update will we endeavour to do this work as quickly as possible.

8. Complaints:

If at any time, you are unhappy with your course please contact Sue Maton immediately at [email protected] and Sue will endeavour to respond as quickly as possible.

9. Course Log In:

9.1 The Course and the relevant login details are solely for your use. Another party cannot use these details.

10. Acceptance of These Terms and Conditions:

10.1. By reading these terms and conditions, verbally agreeing on the telephone or making payment on the website you are accepting all terms and conditions of The Mercerie’s Online Courses

11. Contact:

11.1. All disputes, complaints and changes can be made in writing to [email protected]

11.2. We do our best to respond to respond to emails as quickly as possible and will endeavour to reply to your contact email within 24 hours Mon- Friday and 48 hours Sat-Sun. Please respect these boundaries.

11.3. Our working hours are Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm. 

11.4. Sometimes spam filters do not allow our emails through. Please check your junk/spam folders and add The Mercerie and Sue Maton to your contacts list. The Mercerie does not take responsibility for you not receiving emails due to filters/junk or spam folders on your email server.

12. Copyright:

12.1. All course material is owned by Sue Maton. This includes all video and audio, graphics, content, design, appearance. No material on this website or related courses can be copied or reused by anyone without the permission of Sue Maton.

13. Commercial Production:

13.1. Items made using patterns designed and written by Sue Maton, and as outcomes of this course, may not be sold commercially for financial gain.

14. Use of Images:

14.1. Images of work in progress and finished products posted on social media as a result of  The Mercerie’s online crochet courses, may be used by The Mercerie for marketing purposes on The Mercerie’s website, in newsletters and on social media.
